Winding Down At Work...

As you know, I'm losing my job at the end of the year.  In fact, I got the email that invites me to the meeting in which I will be given my 60 day notice.  I've been handling all of this very well, I must say.  It's not all gloom and doom on my end.  While I'm not excited about looking for a new job and figuring out what I want to be when I grow up, I am kind of excited to move onto the next chapter.

In preparing for my hopefully short-lived unemployment, I'm trying to clean up my financial situation.  And I'm downsizing my home.  I've already gotten rid of so much stuff in garage sales.  I more than likely will be eliminating my cable and home phone bill soon.  Essentially, I've been living as a poor person because, well, now I kind of am one.  And the first thought that comes to mind is 'why didn't I start living like this a long time ago?'  Things would be so much easier for me if I lived below my means even before I knew I was losing my job.  Do you know how much shit I own that I just had to have when I bought it and I haven't used it yet?  Like scrapbooking stuff, cooking supplies, books and even movies.  Did any of this really benefit me in any way?  Make me a better person?  Make me any happier in life?  NO!

So now I'm clipping coupons, preparing my dinners based on the sale items, shopping at ALDI from time to time and just plain old saying "NO" to a lot of useless things I don't need.  When I have a moment of weakness, I open up my Amazon Wishlist to window shop. Sometimes it does the trick.   Don't get me wrong, I still splurge.  Makeup, Tastefully Simple and shoes. I'm far from completely reformed!   But these are all things I use, none of it goes to waste and I use quite a bit of it for entertaining.

Just a warning, you may be seeing more of these babbling blogs from me because we're extremely slow at work and I have shit else to do.  I only wish I had access to pictures and such so I could at least show you awesome cards or makeup tutorials.

Any suggestions for jobs for me next year?  Maybe something I could do on the side while I'm waiting for that awesome dream job?

Hmmm...

I haven't blogged since the old MySpace days.  I've been wanting to start up a blog again so that I can share some of the recipes I've been trying lately.

What to expect?  A little bit of cooking, a little bit of crafting and maybe a makeup tutorial or two.  And perhaps a little glimpse into my jet set fabulous lifestyle.  But more than anything, I'm excited about following others to see all the wonderful things they are doing.
